Dramatherapy is a form of psychological therapy which draws on techniques from drama and the theatre, to offer an expressive and creative therapy. It can be helpful for any one who wants to make emotional, psychological and social changes within their lives. Dramatherapy can be provided for individuals or for groups. People do not need to have had any previous experience or expertise in drama in order to use dramatherapy.
Dramatherapy uses stories, myths, play, movement and improvisation to express and communicate what may be difficult say. This can offer a way to express or make sense of difficult emotions, relationships or events, or to safely, whilst being playful, creative and using the imagination. Through dramatherapy you can rehearse new ways of relating; devise new endings to old situations or develop a new role. Dramatherapy offers an opportunity to gain insight and get to know yourself better.
